Join us for 30 Days of Hope, a San Jose service project that's physically bringing hope to Zambia, a place where over 64% of the people live on less than $1 a day. In fact, the life expectancy is only 38 years, making it one of the most difficult places on earth for a child to survive.

But we can help change that! March 6 - April 4, 2010, a 40-foot shipping container will reside in Downtown Willow Glen at the Church of God of San Jose (host of WG's Trunk or Treat). For the next 30 days, help us pack it full of needed items that will be used for community development!

Items do not have to be new and can include gardening tools, school supplies, fabric, sleeping bags, power tools, computers, etc. All donated items must be in good working condition.

Through Seeds of Hope International Partnerships, these items will be used to teach men and women trades, such as sewing, farming, carpentry, and gardening so they can lift themselves out of poverty. Some will also benefit a local orphanage and help drill clean water wells. In fact, this shipping container already includes a drill rig that will provide clean water for 500,000 people!

Each year, across the nation, one event brings together entire communities to take part in the fight against cancer. The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life is a time and place where people come to celebrate those who have survived cancer, remember those we've lost, and fight back against a disease that touches too many lives.

Won't you gather together a group of up to 15 family, friends, and colleagues and be a part of the Relay this year? You'll join teams from across San Jose on May 15 & 16, 2010, as they raise money for the American Cancer Society, walk the track at Willow Glen High School, play games, listen to live music, camp-out, and experience the night-time candle-led walk and reading of names of local cancer Survivors and those that have lost their lives to the disease.

Your involvement will help the American Cancer Society work toward its mission of eliminating cancer as a major health issue and will support much-needed services in your community. Thanks in part to the donations from Relay For Life and other events, the Society is saving lives, helping those touched by cancer, and empowering people to fight this disease all over the world.

For more information, and to sign up to participate in the Relay, please ...more
