Volunteer at Founder's Day 2008!
Do you love a parade?
If so, here's your opportunity to help make one happen, and show your community spirit at the same time.
The Willow Glen Founder's Day Parade is coming back on Satuday, September 29 right down the middle of Lincoln Avenue. Help make Founder's Day a success by volunteering to serve as parade staff for the event. Five different positions are available to choose from.
- Participant Liaison: You will be assigned a group of parade participants to oversee for the duration of the parade. It is your duty to make sure everyone in your group is checked in, serve as communicator between them and myself, answer questions, lead them to the starting line, follow them on the side on the entire parade route, help them disperse on Minnesota Avenue, hand out the maps to get back to the prarade staging area. Make sure your group is not throwing or passing out any items. Make sure any floats have a UL listed fire extinguisher rated at least 2-A:10-BC.
- Spectator Liaison: You will be assigned an area on the parade route to help spectators find bathrooms, first aid services, answer questions, and assist law enforcement personnel if needed. It is important to keep spectators out of cordoned off areas.
- Check-In Table: You will be responsible for setting up the Check-in booth, checking-in the other volunteers, giving them their volunteer shirts, checking-in the parade participants, and showing them where to wait for the start of the parade. After the parade, you will be taking down the no-parking signs.
- Pre-Parade Day Services: You will help with services needed before the parade day, such as sorting Parade Staff Tshirts, creating signage and other tasks needed prior to parade day. This is a great way to contribute if you are not available on Satuday, September 29, but still want to express your community spirit.
- Finish Line Coordinators: You will direct parade participants to the dispersal area and inform them of how to return to the staging area if needed.
