About the Willow Glen Business Association
The Willow Glen Business Association manages the Willow Glen Business Improvement District (BID) which encompasses almost one mile along Lincoln Avenue between Minnesota and Coe Avenues. Members include businesses and commercial property owners on or near Lincoln Avenue, as well as associate members whose business serves Willow Glen residents. As of 2007, the association had 372 members. The BID is a general business district dedicated to maintaining a mix of commercial uses. These include retail, restaurant, personal and financial services and professional offices. Free customer parking is provided throughout the district. It includes a mix of on-street spaces, designated and public parking lots.
The Willow Glen Business Association is committed to make downtown Willow Glen a desirable destination to shop, eat and locate a business by engaging in:
- the maintenance and beautification of the appearance of downtown Willow Glen;
- the promotion of a positive identity for the Willow Glen business community through advertising, public relations, sponsorships, events and festivals;
- the improvement of business conditions by being a strong advocacy organization; and
- the preservation of the historical and architectural character of downtown Willow Glen.
The Corporation is organized under the California Nonprofit Mutual Benefit Corporation Law for the mutual benefit of its members and is qualified as a non-profit organization under IRS Code Section 501(c)(6).
The Willow Glen Business Association is operated by a volunteer board of directors with a diverse mix of business owners, property owners, associate and community members. The board develops strategies in alignment with the organizationŐs purpose, identifies priorities and projects, and allocates the resources to fulfill the projects. All projects are assigned to one of the following committees for implementation: Infrastructure and Beautification, Outreach and Promotion, Events and Special Projects, Finance and Executive. The association employs one part-time executive director and one-part time administrative staff.
